Part-Time College Admissions Counselor

We are currently seeking a part-time college admissions counselor to work with high school students. A college admissions counselor guides students in grades 9-12 with all aspects of the college preparation, search, and application processes. This position provides the opportunity to counsel students, manage individual projects, and work as part of an energetic and creative team.

Qualifications

You must be organized, detail-oriented, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the natural inclination to think creatively and work both independently and in a team environment. The ideal candidate possesses the following:

Bachelor’s degree required. Advance degree preferred.

A minimum of 3 years of direct experience in undergraduate admissions office of a selective U.S. college or university. Experience in college counseling at a selective high school may also be considered towards, but not in lieu of, this prerequisite. Experience in both is preferred. We cannot consider the candidacy of any applicant who does not meet this prerequisite.

Previous admissions experience evaluating STEM applicants preferred.

Prior involvement working with international students is a plus.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).

Attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills.

Discretion and dedication to the confidentiality of high school students and families.

Confidence, resourcefulness, accountability, and a high degree of integrity and ethics.

Multi-lingual is preferred, especially a second language in: Spanish, French, Portuguese, or Mandarin

This position requires flexibility as part-time counselors often work weekends and evenings to advise students. Applicants must be available for one weekly evening team meeting in the fall (remote participation).

Graduate Admissions Counselor

A graduate counselor assists students in college, or college graduates, with all aspects of the post-graduate degree preparation, search, and application processes. This position provides the opportunity to counsel students, manage individual projects, and work as part of an energetic and creative team.

Qualifications

You must be organized, detail-oriented, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the natural inclination to think creatively and work both independently and in a team environment. The ideal candidate possesses the following:

Bachelor’s degree required. Advance degree preferred.

Our tutors complement school-based services by reinforcing subject lessons and/or assisting students with preparation for standardized tests required for admissions. IvyWise tutors are truly passionate about our students’ success, have a strong rapport with each student, and are adept at customizing each session to their individual needs.

Responsibilities

Create a personalized tutoring plan for each student based on their level, achievement goals, and learning style.

Adapt said tutoring plan based on student’s progress and grades or score reports, and make recommendations for their overall tutoring program.

Stay up to date on changes to school curriculums, and apply the latest strategies, methods, and content during tutoring sessions.

Respond to all correspondence from students, parents, and the IvyWise Tutoring Manager and Client Relations Managers within 24 hours of receipt.

Qualifications

You must be reliable, flexible, and patient, and have excellent teaching and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will also possess the following:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Flexible schedule required.

Previous teaching or tutoring experience for students in grades K-6 required.

Ability to tutor online through Zoom.

Experience with the SSAT and ISEE preferred.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Academic STEM Tutor (IB Experience Preferred)

We are currently seeking expert STEM tutors in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, and psychology. Our tutors complement school-based services by reinforcing subject lessons and helping students to succeed in their coursework and beyond. Our tutors are truly passionate about our students’ success, have a strong rapport with each student, and are adept at customizing each session to their individual needs.

Responsibilities

Create a personalized tutoring plan for each student based on their level, achievement goals, and learning style.

Adapt tutoring plan based on student’s progress and grades or score reports, and make recommendations for their overall tutoring program.

Stay up to date on changes to standardized tests and curriculums, and apply the latest strategies, methods, and content during tutoring sessions.

Experience tutoring in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, and psychology.

Experience and familiarity with the IB curriculum strongly preferred.

Experience with A-Levels and/or the AP Curriculum also preferred.

Test Prep Tutor (SAT/ACT)

We are currently seeking expert test prep tutors to help students prepare for the SAT and ACT. Our tutors are truly passionate about our students’ success, have a strong rapport with each student, and are adept at customizing tutoring sessions to their individual needs.

Responsibilities

Create a personalized tutoring plan for each student based on their level, achievement goals, and learning style.

Adapt tutoring plan based on student’s progress and make testing timeline recommendations.

Coordinate tutoring sessions with students and adhere to the agreed-upon schedule.

Work closely with IvyWise staff to communicate progress and recommendations.

Stay up to date on changes to standardized tests and curricula, and apply the latest strategies, methods, and content during tutoring sessions.

Qualifications

You must be reliable, flexible, and patient, and have excellent teaching and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will also possess the following:

Bachelor’s degree required.

Ability to teach all sections of the SAT and ACT required.

Flexible schedule required.

Previous test preparation training required.

Previous tutoring experience, particularly for college-bound high school students, preferred.

Ability to tutor online through Zoom.
