Tutor Profile

Brian specializes in academic support for math, computer science, finance, and blockchain technologies.

Brian is a math and computer science tutor with extensive experience in providing test prep and academic support to a wide range of students. He specializes in working with students on projects related to cryptocurrency, coding, the metaverse, and NFTs. Brian currently works for a premier crypto bank custodian and has experience working across many blockchain ecosystems.

Brian received two undergraduate degrees from MIT in electrical engineering and computer science (EECS) and management science and a minor in Architecture. While there, he conducted research in biomaterials and robotics in the Mediated Matter group at the famed MIT Media Lab. His fabrication skills include CAD, 3D printing, laser cutting, embroidery and sewing, metalwork and welding, and circuitry to name a few. Many of these skills he developed while conducting research for the MIT Self Assembly Lab working on a variety of corporate partnerships. Nearly all parts of his studies or research involved some aspect of coding whether for graphics, modeling, or design.

Brian began his tutoring career teaching basic reading and mathematics to English-as-a-second-language students, eventually working to tutor students in more advanced courses including various college mathematics (multivariable calculus, linear algebra) and computer science courses at MIT. He has been coding since middle school in languages including Java, Python, and C++ amongst others.

Brian is a visual learner and likes to pair concepts with diagrams and images to provide a deeper understanding of the content. He also likes to find real-world applications for problems that make material seem more pertinent to reality and perhaps future careers.

Brian grew up just outside Washington D.C. and now resides in New York City. In his free time, Brian enjoys visiting art galleries, reading, playing golf, skiing, and traveling. On his list of things to do next: learn glass blowing and visit more of Asia.
