Tutor Profile
Catherine specializes in preparation for the SAT and ACT and academic support for math and science subjects.
Catherine is a test prep and academic support tutor with extensive experience working with students in a wide range of subjects and settings. She graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in Molecular Biology and is currently a medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Prior to joining the IvyWise team, she served as a Princeton peer tutor for organic chemistry and molecular biology and a private tutor for biology, chemistry, and test prep.
Catherine believes that time management, clear objectives, and consistent practice are central to test prep and academic preparation. For each of her students, she dedicates an early demo session towards constructing a road map and study guide to ensure that all material is covered in advance of the goal test date. For test prep, this study guide is always formatted exactly according to the syllabi published by the official test makers (SAT/ACT) and serves as an ongoing resource for tracking strengths and areas of improvement across sessions. She encourages students to view assessments not as unconquerable, but as carefully designed challenges set forth by test makers that can be understood and mastered. Importantly, tutoring is a partnership where she and the student regularly assess and refine their program to ensure that it best suits the student’s individual learning styles and goals.
In her free time, Catherine enjoys traveling, exploring the New York City food scene, and taking Pilates classes.
