Tutor Profile
Charlotte specializes in academic support in STEM subjects and preparation for the SAT and ACT.
Charlotte has years of experience teaching mathematics full time as a high school teacher at private, independent schools. She has taught students at a range of levels, from introductory Algebra through Calculus. In addition to her experience as a classroom teacher, Charlotte has also worked 1-on-1 with elementary to college-aged students as a tutor, with a focus on STEM subjects and standardized test preparation.
Charlotte has worked internationally for much of her career, living in the Middle East, West Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa. She is certified to teach English as a second language and has earned the internationally recognized CELTA qualification. She has extensive experience working with students who are learning in their second (or third) language and helping them prepare for American exams and colleges.
Charlotte has found that the key to successfully working with students—regardless of where they’re from—is building a strong, positive connection focused on encouraging learners and helping them set (and achieve!) their goals. She truly believes that mathematics is fun, playful, and creative and hopes to share that joy with her students. Charlotte is careful to balance her lessons so that they are challenging while still setting up students for success.
She earned her BS in Mathematics, along with a double BA in Chemistry and Arabic, from the University of Rochester. She has also earned a Masters degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University.
