Tutor Profile
Jiwoo specializes in preparation for the SAT and ACT and academic support for math and science subjects.
Jiwoo earned her double major degree in Anthropology and Neuroscience from Amherst College. During her undergraduate years, she conducted research at Yale University and Boston Children’s Hospital exploring clinical outcomes in pediatric and adolescent patients. After graduating, she worked as a life sciences management consultant helping develop business strategy for a wide range of biopharmaceutical companies. She is currently a medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
Jiwoo has been tutoring since she was in high school and has worked with students in a wide range of settings and academic subjects. Her range of experience is broad and well-rounded, from coaching high school students on standardized test prep to helping college students write complex papers, with much more in between.
She believes that clear goal setting, personalization, and communication are at the root of success. She aims to lead sessions that are not only fun, engaging, and welcoming, but are grounded in clear objectives and next steps. She loves building strong relationships with her students so that she can tailor her tutoring strategies to best suit their personal needs, concerns, and learning styles. She always strives to help her students concretely understand foundational concepts so that they have the tools and confidence to tackle the toughest problems independently.
In her spare time, Jiwoo loves practicing yoga (and is currently working towards her teacher certification!), exploring museums and galleries, hiking, and baking for her friends and family.
