Tutor Profile
Riley specializes in academic support for mathematics at the high school and college level.
Riley earned his B.A. from Princeton University, where he majored in mathematics. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree at New York University, where he has worked as a TA and grader for multiple undergraduate courses in linear algebra and graph theory.
As a tutor, Riley’s style is enthusiastic and collegial. Knowing that topics in mathematics build off of one another in a very dependent way, his first goal is to seek out where a student’s understanding of the fundamentals has gone awry, then offer patient and careful instruction to bridge that gap. Riley believes that understanding where a result or formula comes from is just as important as understanding how it is used. His goal for any student is to develop in them a lasting understanding of the material that goes beyond passing the next test or class.
Outside of tutoring, Riley enjoys playing guitar, hiking, American football, and programming. He always has several coding projects going at once, and he would very much like you to ask about them.
